Session 3: Travelling to xence moraine.

One servant told Farnol that a strange and wise wizard called Tcheruke "The Magic Scientist", who lives in a remote place called Xence Moraine, could help him. Farnol has prepared the trip and you must go with him. Many dangers are waiting on your path, but Farnol is convinced that a group of heroes like yours can pass them.... don't you?

Journey through the Dying Earth:

The sun was at its lowest position when Farnol rode away from Manse Karzh. In the south was located the city of Kaiin, whose white walls reflected violet light. Farnol took a path that circled the city on the north side to some ruins called the Old Town. There, he rode past a broken obelisk where he found his way full of destroyed buildings. This image froze his heart, but could not extinguish the fire burning in his stomach. The red sun already stayed on the sky. He continued running until the Old Town lay behind him. Farnol crossed the bronze fields of Foun which were adorned with some bright golden roses.

An hour later, Farnol arrived to Xence Moraine. It was a place which looked like a sea made of stone where the sun painted the rocks with its red light and the hollows[1] on the rocks with purple shadows. Farnol studied the place because the regularity of size and shape looked like it was built by intelligent beings. However, he did not find anyone. Finally, he decided to ride his horse to find a safe place. After hours of investigating the place to see if there were some inhabitants and finding no one, he finally dismounted. Then, he tried to check if there was somebody there by tapping strongly the floor. There was no answer until he found something.

A shadow figure appeared in front of his eyes, and was not there when he turned to look at it. His heart beat quickly and the fire at the bottom of his stomach began to burn him. Farnol breathed deeply and tapped again. The figure came to the light and Farnol discovered that it was an old man with grey clothing and a strange mask on his hand.

""What are you looking for?" asked the strange man.

I'm looking for Tcheruke "the Magic Scientist."

"What do you want of him?"

"His help. I'm going to pay him well."

"And what does he care about your money? Shall he bury it on the Xence Moraine to see if it grows?"

"I can offer him an interesting tale—the story of a lazy young man whose uncle has poisoned him as "motivation" for learning magic."

""Interesting." aswered the strange man. "Come in, and tell me your story. I, Tcheruke "the Magic Scientist", will hear it."

Farnol told Tcheruke his story and adventures. The old wizard took some books and read them carefully for a long time. Then, he asked Farnol to take one drop of his blood for a closer examination.

[1] Hollow: a space on the surface or inside of something, e.g. a rock.
